'Boffins Backed World Cup Song Reaches Top 10 of the Singles Chart

Loyal readers of Soccer Mad Boffins will remember the feature we did recently on World Cup songs. As England does not have an official song this time around we decided to choose one of the myriad unofficial singles released this year as our tip for pop chart supremacy.

That song was 'Charge of the Light Brigade' by punk rock supergroup The Tallywags, a Flashman-esque call-to-arms for the nation to get behind their team, regardless of the inevitability of almost certain defeat.

We interviewed The Tallywags',Tonm Spencer about the song, his inspiration, and his personal interest in football: http://soccermadboffins.blogspot.com/2018/06/songs-for-world-world-cup-anthems.html

We are pleased to report that since we published the article on this blog the single has gone straight in at number 8 on the official charts (physical sales, week 22 - 28 June 2018): http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/physical-singles-chart/

Lets hope that The Tallywags, and the England football team reach the top spot by the end of this week.
